    This summer, we will bring the same warmth, atmosphere, and classic American fare to Sag Harbor with a focus on the beautiful seafood caught right off the coast of Long Island. 

    We are looking for experienced Sag Harbor locals and New York City hospitality professionals to join us for the summer. Lodging assistance will be provided on a case-by-case basis.     Job Description:
    Servers & Bartenders
     

    Looking for great individuals to join our incredible tavern team! Candidates should be knowledgeable, approachable, and comfortable communicating with guests from different backgrounds. A certain level of flexibility and adaptability is appreciated since we are operating both inside the dining room and outside on our patio, and a true love of hospitality is required.

    Servers and bartenders will work closely with our service staff, host, kitchen crew, and General Manager.

    Requirements:

  • Knowledge of classic cocktails and their components; bartenders must have strong knowledge of classic cocktail recipes and ability to make house cocktails to spec quickly and efficiently while maintaining a clean workspace. 

  • Basic knowledge of wine regions & grapes.
    Able to retain information about menu items, their inspirations, components, appropriate table settings, allergens and taste profiles.

  • Desire to learn more about food, wine and cocktails.

  • Able to complete all opening/closing server side work in a timely fashion.

  • Able to accurately handle debit/credit card transactions.

  • Punctuality

  • Problem solving skills

  • Warm demeanor 

  • Attention to detail

  • Able to lift 40+ pounds and stand/walk for 8 hours

  • Weekend availability a must 


Line Cook

Job Details:

Seeking full-time line cook for Red Hook Tavern, a critically acclaimed restaurant in Red Hook, Brooklyn. Candidates must have 2+ years of experience working in BOH Positions. Must be energetic, level headed, self-sufficient, and organized. Food Handlers Certification is recommended for line cooks.

Job Description:

  • Support Chef with all menu prep and execution

  • Assist in producing Family Meal

  • Work well as part of a team in an often fast-paced environment

  • Maintain a positive attitude and promote a respectful work environment

  • Ensuring high food quality and thoughtful plating (as set by Chef)

  • Ensure a clean and organized kitchen and prep space (including regular deep cleanings)

  • Complete station inventories and checklists

  • Demonstrate safe food handling procedures such as dating, labeling, and rotating

  • Be able to safely operate and clean all kitchen equipment

  • Ensure compliance with the local health department and other regulations

  • Passion for food and flavor, commitment to cleanliness, and professionalism

  • Strong multitasking skills and problem-solving abilities (understanding that things will go wrong in this industry!)

Dishwasher

Job Details:

Seeking part time Dishwasher to join our team of incredible professionals. Candidates must have 1+ years experience working in BOH Positions. Must be energetic, level headed and responsible. 

Job Description:


  • Wash all dishes and cooking equipment in a timely manner

  • Clean cooking and prep stations to help expedite service

  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment, refrigeration, tables, etc. (including weekly deep cleaning)

  • Clean and maintain FOH areas and curbside as needed

  • Ensure compliance with local health department and other regulations

  • Follow proper open/close protocols

  • Flexibility to cover open shifts if needed

  • Assist in training new dishwashers

  • Assist in general tasks as specified by Kitchen Manager/Chef


Required Experience

  • Love working with a team & also independently

  • 1-2+ years experience in a fast paced environment

  • Working knowledge of commercial dishwasher

  • Must be able to communicate clearly with managers, kitchen and FOH personnel

  • Must be able to stand for at least 8 hours and lift at least 50 pounds

  • Ability to go up and down stairs frequently during shift


Sommelier

Job Details:

The Sommelier and Shift Supervisor is a combined wine sales and floor management role. The Sommelier and Shift Supervisor reports directly to the General Manager and Beverage Director. 

The Sommelier and Shift Supervisor is the main point of contact between the guest and Red Hook Tavern's wine program. Wine service at Red Hook Tavern is unpretentious, unfussy, and quietly expert. How the guest feels when discussing and enjoying wine is infinitely more important than knowledge of soil types and aspect. Nevertheless, wine fluency, as well as knowledge of specific regions and producers of importance to Red Hook Tavern, is expected.  

Job Description:

Helping guests select wines, both by the glass and by the bottle, as well as other beverages

  • Assisting guests with pairings

  • Conducting wine service

  • Driving sales on the floor through pairings and table maintenance

  • Conducting daily and weekly staff education on wine and beverage service

  • Maintaining a clean and organized cellar

  • Alerting the Beverage Director to any lows, 86s, or faulty bottles

  • Assisting the Beverage Director with monthly inventory

  • Assisting the Beverage Director with purchases and menu selections

  • Updating Toast and Craftable with bins and counts

  • Embodying and maintaining standards of service and standards of beverage service among the FOH staff

  • Supervising service - ensuring that the FOH staff is adequately prepared for service, that any service issues are addressed in the moment, and that guests leave happy

  • Helping out with service as needed - running drinks and food, clearing and setting tables, assisting the host with seatings and reservations, updating Toast as needed, and taking tables

  • Addressing guest complaints and issuing comps under General Manager guidelines

  • Filing an End of Night report detailing the shift when closing

The Sommelier & Shift Supervisor must be able to lift 50 pounds, have full use of both arms, and be able to take stairs.
